Let's make Belgian knowledge open, usable, used and useful

Open Belgium is an annual conference gathering industry, research, government and citizen stakeholders concerning Open Knowledge. Experience this one-day community-driven conference with talks, discussions, panels, workshops and become part of the open community.

This year, we're turning things around: Open Cities, Smart Data

This year's theme is: "Open Cities, Smart Data", marking the different ways open knowledge and open data can contribute to smart urban development, the rise of smart applications and the shift from the raising quantity of data to the raising quality of data.

In the first years of promoting Open Data, the priority is to release data early and see what happens. There was a great rise in quantity of open data and today we want to ask the question: But how are we doing quality-wise? How much of the data and gathered knowledge is being used in useful and insightful applications? Is the current open data, the data we want to have?

Why are you providing a full-price ticket that is more expensive than a community ticket?

Open Belgium is a community event which aims to bring together anyone interested in the open movement.

To allow as many people as possible to attend, we’ve kept ticket prices low what means that the conference is on a tight budget. If you are a community member who is paying for this conference personally, you can buy the community ticket. However if you want reimburse this cost within an organisation or are coming as part of an organisation, we refer you to the full price ticket.
